HCS SB 99 -- JOINT COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT POLICY AND PLANNING SPONSOR: Champion (Wood) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Job Creation and Economic Development by a vote of 18 to 0. This substitute renames of the Joint Committee on Terrorism, Bioterrorism, and Homeland Security to the Joint Committee on Homeland Security and requires that the joint committee meet at least annually instead of quarterly. The substitute also requires that the chair and vice chair of the Joint Committee on Economic Development Policy and Planning rotate between the House of Representatives and the Senate on a biennial basis. Currently, the rotation is on an annual basis. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and FY 2008. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill clarifies the membership and responsibilities of the Joint Committee on Economic Development Policy and Planning.
